Message From the Minister
PUC (Can you say, “puck”?) is multi-faceted, rather like a valuable gemstone cut creatively so as to reflect God’s beauty in light. First, PUC is a place: Westminster House. Situated at the corner of West Park Ave. & S. Copeland St., adjacent to FSU & across from its College of Music. Built by Florida Presbyterians, 1950 as a Student House. Red brick; slate roof; Collegiate Gothic style building characterized by an arched front porch, stone details & leaded glass windows. Classy. Traditional. Old school cool. We call it a house because it’s really space for grace.
Second, PUC is a community of and for students. We’re founded & supported as a campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church USA, a Christian family of about 2 million folks who think students & education are important, including their spiritual & religious lives. This is a community where faith seeks understanding, where questions about life & wellness, human purpose, meaning & vocation matter enough to warrant space to explore them & people with whom to share them. Student life in community is PUC’s chief ministry.
Hospitality’s at the core of PUC’s mission, the kind of hospitality that everyone deserves. This means that our roots run deeply in the soil of God’s grace & our ministry sprouts from God’s love in Jesus Christ. Don’t think you have to be Christian or even religious to share in a ministry like this in its several forms.
Suit yourself within our authentic community of progressive-minded students who seek genuinely to live & learn together in special ways in this special place.
